YouTube DM — Privacy Policy

YouTube DM ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that adds direct messaging functionality to YouTube. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

• Google account information — your name, profile picture, and email address, obtained when you sign in with Google. This is used solely to identify you within the Extension.
• Messages — text messages and shared YouTube video links you send or receive through the Extension.
• Username — a display name you choose when setting up your account.

2. How We Store Data

All data is stored in Supabase, a third-party backend platform. Your session token is stored locally in Chrome's extension storage on your device and never shared with third parties.

3. How We Use Data

Your data is used exclusively to provide the messaging features of the Extension — sending and receiving messages between users. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties for advertising or any other purpose.

4. Permissions Used

• identity — to authenticate you with your Google account via Supabase.
• storage — to save your session locally so you remain logged in between browser sessions.
• activeTab / scripting — to inject the messaging interface into YouTube pages.
• https://www.youtube.com/* — the Extension only operates on YouTube.
• https://*.supabase.co/* — to communicate with the backend that stores messages and user profiles.

5. Data Deletion

You can log out at any time from within the Extension, which clears your local session. To request full deletion of your account and messages from our servers, contact us at the email below.

6. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
